New Happenings
-We scheduled my induction for Monday the 30th. She had warned me that she didn't want me going past my due date, but somehow I hadn't realized how close it really is. Holy cow. Due in less than a week. We'll have Logan any day now!
-Kimbal and I had our first (and likely only) major holiday with just the two of us at home. It was pretty wonderful to be honest. I missed my family like crazy, but I'm really glad we got to have that experience once.

Things I learned this week
-Almost everyone who's experienced Pitocin tells horror stories about it. Great. That really helps with my pre-labor anxiety.

38 weeks

New Happenings
-Officially diagnosed with preeclampsia. Honestly I'm not as freaked out by this as I thought I would be. We're lucky it only came on when I was far enough along for it not to be a big deal.
-Because of the diagnosis I get to have Non-Stress Tests twice a week and I'm on modified bed rest. The tests really aren't stressful (true to their name) and I kinda love getting to see/hear him all the time.

Things I learned this week
-Logan doesn't seem all that keen on coming into the world. No change in dilating/effacing. We're talking about when to induce labor. Super.

37 weeks

New Happenings
-I'm being tested for preeclampsia again. Lovely
-Lots of contractions, but they don't seem to be doing anything. Not dilating at all. Lame.

Things I learned this week
-I have friends in this ward. They are wonderful! Such a fun shower and such sweet gifts for little Logan

36 weeks

New happenings
-The heartburn is back with a vengeance! Between the milk, the mass quantities of tums, and the vitamins, both Logan and I are definitely getting our calcium.
-Logan dropped this week. It's lovely to be able to breath again, but walking is... even more exciting now.
-On Sunday I could barely put on my shoes. I nearly cried.

Things I learned this week
-The ladies in our ward are fantastic! They're throwing me a baby shower next week even though most of them hardly know me. I'm so excited! I've really been wanting to meet more women around here and to be honest we really could use the help getting things together for Logan.

35 weeks

New Happenings
-We're into the final stretch! Dr. Appointments are now every week to check on how baby is doing and how close we're getting to delivering.

Things I learned this week
-Grandma Mitzi has great taste in baby stuff! Loving the blankets, onesies, and adorable baby shoes she got Logan! Still haven't been able to stop myself from playing with the softie blanket every time I walk past it.

34 weeks

New Happenings
-Last week we're allowed to travel beyond a one hour radius of the hospital. We capitalized on that and went to Beaver to visit the Joseph's for that last time until after Logan joins us.

Things I learned this week
-The spacing of rest stops from Beaver to Salt Lake was not planned out by a pregnant woman. Or by a woman at all. How can they really expect anyone to hold it for that long?! Sheesh. Don't worry- there were no accidents, but there was some meditative breathing and a fevered sprint from the car when we finally reached a gas station.

33 weeks

New Happenings
-I'm really starting to feel how big/far along I am. Back aches, swollen feet, sore hips- this is all normal now.
-Gained a bit more weight than I should have during the AZ trip. Shocker.

Things I learned this week
-Logan has tons of stuff, yet still needs more. How can someone so tiny end up taking up so much space?!

32 weeks

New Happenings
-I got some sort of allergic reaction from Hades. Hives everywhere for a week. So fun.
-Logan and I missed Kimbal lots and lots while in AZ. So happy to be back with him!

Things I learned this week
-The fam was a bit horrified by the tiger tummy. Somehow this made me oddly proud. Hey, if I can't look good in a two piece ever again, at least I can freak people out.

31 weeks

New Happenings
-Going to AZ this week! So excited!

Things I learned this week
-I had to get a doctor's note to be allowed to fly.
-Flights from SLC to PHX are always in the farthest gate in the farthest terminal from everything.
-My ladies in AZ are incredible. They were so sweet and generous at the baby shower! I can't believe all the wonderful, beautiful things Logan has now!
-My parents must really, really love me! Can't believe they flew me down to AZ, helped throw me a shower, let me crash at their house, and drove me (and all Logan's new stuff) back up to UT. Amazing.

New Happenings
-Did you know you can actually be bruised from the inside? I had no idea until the little dude was in a particularly violent mood and messed up the left side of my ribcage. This whole pregnancy thing sure is fun.
-My new stretch marks have now made the "tiger-tummy" motif complete. Thank heavens- it would have been SO embarrassing to have massive red stripes on only half of my stomach. Ha!

Things I learned this week
-My blood pressure is now AMAZING. Thanks Mom for suggesting I lay off the sodium!
-I'm allowed to travel still. AZ here I come!

New Happenings
-The little dude has discovered my ribs. Not so fun. Note to Little Man~ Despite what you seem to believe, Mommy is not a xylophone or a total gym. Just so you know.
-I'm feeling hugenormous. I know I've said that before, but I had no idea what I was talking about then. Yikes. Bright side~ Kimbal loves it. He just watches me waddle around sometimes with this gorgeously gooey smile on his face. And he tells me about a million times a day how cute I am pregnant. I love him.

Things I learned this week
-Creating a baby registry is intense. It totally tops the stress of wedding registries. A) If you make the wrong choice it doesn't just mean that you're stuck with ugly towels, it could mean that baby isn't safe/happy. B) There are about a million options for everything baby-related (I counted seven different bottle brush options at babies"r"us. No joke.). C) EVERYONE has an opinion on EVERYTHING and most can't tell when you really don't give a care what they prefer. No worries dear readers- your opinions are some of the few that get credit in my book. D) Now I have to take a break every half-hour or so. Since when is shopping this exhausting?!

Calling all Mommas

I'm probably going to start registering soon and I was hoping to get some input on what to look for/ask for. If there are any products you couldn't live without, things you never used, brands you love or hate, or stores you wouldn't go through please let me know. Thanks so much!

New Happenings
-Yesterday was the first time I felt a kick and could actually tell it was a little foot, not just so random appendage attacking from the inside. It was freaky and kinda wonderful.
-Baby now sometimes responds if we press on my stomach while he's being active
-I'm super healthy now! Yay! We had a check up Thursday and my weight and blood pressure are both down to good levels, my uterus is measuring normal, and his heart rate is perfect.

Things I learned this week
-Circumcision is not covered by Medicaid. Random.

New Happenings
-Spent most of this week recovering from last week. Drank tons of water and became very well acquainted with our new bathroom. Haha... oh man. TMI? Probably.
-Had an ultrasound/check-up to make sure baby is ok and that I really don't have something wrong with me. Baby looks great- he's nice and healthy, big brain and everything. I was a little grumpy with him though because he wouldn't let us see his face. In all three ultrasounds we've had, he keeps his little hands up there by his cheeks all the time. It's cute, but I really wanted to see him better. We did get to see his cute little, pouty mouth. I think his lips look like Kimbal's. Couldn't be happier about that!

Things I learned this week
-My hips feel like they're falling out of place because they kinda are. Good to know.
-Baby's head measures a couple weeks ahead of the rest of his body. Super. I kinda figured the kid would have a big noggin' but had somehow convinced myself that would developed after the already "exciting" notion of delivery. Nope. His head is huge. That means he'll be smart right?! And he'll become a super genius in something and support us right into early retirement and it'll all be worth it... right?!?!?!

New Happenings
-Preeclampsia scare. No worries folks, baby and I are fine, but we had a rough couple of days there. Very exciting/fun/convenient tests and three days of bed-rest during moving week. Lovely.
-To top-off the week appropriately, the preeclampsia scare was followed by a stomach flu. It got so bad I was shaking all the time and blacking out. Bright side? Pretty sure I lost those couple pounds that were not exactly baby. Not so bright side? I'm still working on rehydrating and baby didn't get his pre-nates and fish oil for a few days.

Things I learned this week
-Have I mentioned that Kimbal is amazing?! The poor guy started school, moved most of our stuff by himself, stressed about baby and me, AND nursed me back to health during my flu bug. I guess it's not really a new thing I learned, but it does help me realize- I'm so lucky.
-Preeclampsia is a nasty, nasty thing. All I knew going into this week was that the word preeclampsia is basically treated like a swearword in most of the pregnancy literature I've read. I hope I never have to deal with it in real life.
-I have a pretty awesome Dr. You should have seen the flurry of activity around us after my blood pressure was high. Nice to know she can take action like that.

Week 25 so far... I'll keep updating as it goes.

New Happenings
-More stretch marks. Kimbal thinks it's neat that they're forming in imperfect concentric circles around my belly button. I personally think it's less cool. Ew. It looks like my belly will explode soon.
-Packing for the move demonstrated just how much my range of motion has changed. Bending? Ha.

Things I learned this week
-Dancing in heels while pregnant is difficult, but completely worth it! I love my husband!
-My MGs are the only ones comfortable enough with me to rub my tummy so far. I like that. It's cute when friends do it, the idea of strangers treating me like Buddha, much less endearing.

August 21, 2009

24 weeks

Clearly also late, plus we forgot to take a picture. Lame. Sorry!

New Happenings
-Doctor's appointment this week. She moved us from the four weeks between visits schedule to the two weeks schedule. It's getting closer!
-Started working on the crib. Were pleasantly surprised to find that the wood beneath the icky white paint put on by the last owner is actually quite good. Were less thrilled to realise how long it's going to take to sand that puppy down. Yikes.
-Finally found the courage to read the chapters about labor and birth in the book my Dr gave me. Scary stuff, but it's better to be prepared right?!
-Braxton Hicks continued, they're even MORE fun this week. If these are just the practice ones I'm even more freaked out about the real thing.

Things I learned this week
-Forget last week's decision that saltines and peanut butter are best. Now it's cashews and since the doc told me I need to be getting more protein when snacking, I don't even feel guilty about them. Good thing there was a big sale on them at Albertson's. Yum.
-Realized I wouldn't be allowed to paint the baby room walls in the new place. Cried. Gotta love those pregnancy hormones.

23 weeks

So... this is late (clearly) but we did actually take the picture to document my, uh... expanding horizons on time. I'm pretty sure that counts.

New happenings
-Kimbal finally felt one of Logan's ninja kicks. Quote "Whoa, there's some real power behind that!" Tell me about it.
-Braxton Hicks contractions started. Those are exciting.
-First stretch marks showed up. Lovely. They're in a totally random spot too, just to the left of my belly button. The little man just chills there all the time. Kinda funny, but they also made me sad. I'm never going to be as mildly attractive as I once was ever again.

Things I learned this week
-Saltines with Peanut Butter might be the perfect snack.
-You can be painfully full and still ravenous.
-I'm getting to the point where I can either lift my leg a bit OR bend a bit. Putting on pants is now an Olympic event.

Pics WILL be coming for weeks 23 and 25 I promise! They needed editing and now I can't find them. I'm brilliant. I'll post them after Kimbal gets home and helps me locate them again.
